Nebenwirkungen sind – zumindest bei den empfohlenen Dosierungen – nicht bekannt. Werden größere Mengen genommen (was Sie ohnehin nicht tun sollten), kann es aber zu Magen-Darm-Beschwerden und Durchfall kommen.
Vorsicht bei Blutverdünnern und Kinderwunsch
Beachten sollten Sie, dass Katzenkrallen-Präparate die Wirkung von Blutverdünnern (Antikoagulanzien) verstärken können. Zudem sollten Frauen, die schwanger werden wollen oder sind, darauf verzichten. Katzenkrallen-Extrakt kann als Tee zubereitet werden. Ansonsten gibt es verschiedene Kapseln, Tabletten, Tinkturen und Salben.
Fazit: Studien stimmen schon jetzt optimistisch
Die Katzenkralle wird nicht umsonst liebevoll "Heilige Pflanze des Regenwaldes" genannt. Studien geben Hinweise darauf, dass die Wirkstoffe der Pflanze einiges gegen Entzündungen und verschiedene Krebserkrankungen auszurichten vermögen. Die Ergebnisse sind durchaus erfolgversprechend.
Allerdings sind noch nicht alle Details zur Wirkung der Pflanze geklärt. Es bleibt also zu hoffen, dass weitere, größere Studien – vor allem an Menschen – angestoßen werden, um die Effekte zu bestätigen.
